How to Design an MTM Strategy that Improves Wellness, Creates Cost-Effectiveness

Thursday, July 10, 2008

3:00-4:30 pm EDT

Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is more than a CMS requirement. A well-designed MTM program provides managed care organizations and others struggling with multiple agendas (i.e. pharmacy budget, quality, pay-for-performance) a unique opportunity to better focus their human and financial resources, while improving patient wellness. Join us for our May program to learn how to craft an MTM program that employs state-of-the art clinical data collection techniques and drug utilization strategies that go beyond generic conversions. This program will also outline how to develop a MTM program for chronic diseases and/or specialty pharmacy without using pharmacy edits or usurping the physicians’ decision-making authority.

Learning Objectives

Tune into this live, 90-minute program from the convenience of your office or home to hear industry experts:

  • Discuss methods for developing a disease-based recommendation strategy using evidence-based guidelines.
  • Understand the difference between a cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analysis.
  • Review components and workflow associated with an effective MTM practice, including issues and strategies related to clinical data collection, validated patient assessment, recommendation creation, and recommendation coordination.
  • Identify clinically-based objective measures that are indicative of quality prescribing, and can be used as the basis for pay-for-performance reimbursement.
  • Review a case study to better understand the clinical and financial impact that MTM can have on a patient population.
