WELLPOINT PICKS ALLSCRIPTS, ZIX
WellPoint Health Networks (Thousand Oaks, CA) will offer physicians a choice of e-prescribing software from Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (Libertyville, IL) and Zix Corp. (Dallas) as part of a $40 million initiative to supply 19,000 network physicians with online technology (EHI, January 2004).

eHEALTH, IS FIRMS TRIM 1Q04 LOSSES
eHealth and information services companies reported a net loss of $35.141 million on revenues of $948.58 million in the first quarter of 2004, compared to a net loss of $59.604 million on revenues of $814.304 million the same period a year earlier, according to an EHI tally of 19 companies reporting to date.

WebMD (Elmwood Park, NJ) reported net income of $5.701 million on revenues of $271.214 million in the first quarter of 2004, compared to a net loss of $7.358 million on revenues of $221.531 million the same period a year earlier.
