eHEALTH, INFO SERVICES STOCKS FALL 1.4% IN 2 WEEKS
eHealth and information services stocks fell 1.4% in the two weeks ended Aug. 26, according to a tally of 24 issues tracked by EHI. Market cap rose 0.3% to $12.1 billion. Including Cardinal and McKesson, which dwarf all other companies in the tally, market cap among 26 companies fell 2% to $51.7 billion.

QUADRAMED REPORTS 36 CONTRACTS FOR HIM PRODUCTS
QuadraMed (Reston, VA) reported 36 new contracts to provide its Quantim HIM coding and compliance software suite. The contracts encompass 69 HIM applications to be implemented at 81 separate sites.

HEALTHSTREAM POSTS NET INCOME OF $23,000
HealthStream (Nashville, TN) reported second-quarter net income of $23,000, compared to a net loss of $529,000 in the same period a year earlier.

NEOFORMA POSTS $14.7 MILLION NET LOSS
Neoforma Inc. (San Jose, CA), which is reviewing strategic alternatives including the possible sale of the company, reported a net loss of $14.678 million in the second quarter of 2005, compared to a net loss of $18.414 million in the same period a year earlier.

TRIZETTO RAISES 2005 PROFIT PROJECTION
Based on better-than-expected second-quarter results, Trizetto Group (Newport Beach, CA) increased its outlook for full-year 2005 net income to $0.38 to $0.43 per share ($17.1 million to $19.4 million based on 45 million diluted shares).

QUOTESMITH TAPS GIBSON, BERGQUIST
Quotesmith.com (Darien, IL) has named Brian Gibson vice president of sales; he was most recently with USAA Life. Quotesmith has also named Eric Bergquist chief information officer; he was most recently with Aon.

CLAIMSNET REPORTS 2Q05 NET LOSS OF $95,000
Claimsnet.com (Dallas) reported a second-quarter net loss of $95,000 on revenues of $326,000. That’s compared to a net loss of $126,000 on revenues of $225,000 in the same period a year earlier. Revenues in the quarter rose 45%, while expenses declined 6%.

eDIETS SWINGS TO PROFIT IN 2Q05
eDiets.com (Deerfield Beach, FL) reported second-quarter 2005 net income of $1.255 million, compared to a net loss of $5.469 million in the same period a year earlier.

CARESCIENCE LANDS 2 NEW HOSPITAL CLIENTS
CareScience, a division of Quovadx Inc. (Englewood, CO) landed two new hospital clients for the company’s quality measurement products, including Deaconess Billings Clinic (Billings, MT) and Maury Regional Healthcare System (Columbia, TN). The company also announced expanded business with several existing clients.

ADAM DOUBLES NET INCOME
Adam Inc. (Atlanta) reported net income of $647,000 in the second quarter of 2005, up 105% compared to $315,000 in the same period a year earlier.

QUOVADX NARROWS 2Q05 LOSS TO $90,000
Quovadx Inc. (Englewood, CO) narrowed its net loss to $90,000 in the second-quarter of 2005, compared to a net loss of $5.89 million in the same period a year earlier.

PER-SE TRIPLES NET INCOME IN 2Q05
Per-Se Technologies (Alpharetta, GA) reported second-quarter net income of $7.546 million, up 214%, on revenues of $93.300 million, up 6%.

WOODLAND TO USE ALLSCRIPTS E-HEATLH RECORD
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (Libertyville, IL) said it has won a contract to provide its TouchWorks electronic medical record software to Woodland Healthcare (Woodland, CA), a 75-physician group practice of Catholic Healthcare West.

TRIZETTO WINS GREAT-WEST LIFE
Trizetto Group (Newport Beach, CA) will provide Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Co. (Greenwood Village, CO) with technology that automates pricing of provider contracts to improve first-pass auto-adjudication rates. Great-West, which is part of Great-West Life Assurance Co., serves 2 million healthcare lives.

HEALTHAXIS REPORTS $325,000 2Q05 LOSS
HealthAxis (Irving, TX) reported a second-quarter net loss of $325,000 on revenues of $4.011 million, compared to a net loss of $1.506 million on revenues of $3.984 million in the same period a year earlier.

QUADRAMED SWINGS TO PROFIT IN FISCAL 2Q05
QuadraMed Corp. (Reston, VA) reported net income of $102,000 for the fiscal second quarter ended June 30, compared to a net loss of $9.669 million in the same period a year earlier.

NDCHEATLH POSTS FISCAL 4Q05 PROFIT
NDCHealth Corp. (Atlanta) reported net income of $256,000 for the fiscal fourth quarter ended May 27, 2005, compared to net loss of $16.551 million in the same period a year earlier.

EMDEON PRICES $300 MM PRIVATE PLACEMENT
Emdeon (Elmwood Park, NJ), formerly WebMD, announced that its private placement of $300 million in 3 1/8% convertible senior notes are convertible into common stock at an initial price of $15.57 per common share.

IDX COMPLETES PURCHASE OF REALTIMEIMAGE
IDX Systems Corp. (Burlington, VT) has completed the purchase of the assets of RealTimeImage Ltd. for $16 million.

MCKESSON COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF MEDCON
McKesson Corp. (San Francisco, CA) has completed the acquisition of Israeli-based Medcon for US$105 million.

GORES’ PROXICOM TO ACQUIRE DAOU
Proxicom Inc., an affiliate of investment firm Gores Technology Group (Los Angeles), announced a definitive agreement to acquire Daou Systems Inc. (Exton, PA) for about $0.305 per share or a total of $21.6 million in cash. Proxicom is an international Internet consulting firm specializing in healthcare, automotive and financial services.

ZIX RAISES $26 MM IN PRIVATE PLACEMENT
Zix Corp. (Dallas) said it had completed the private placement of 10.5 million shares of common stock and related warrants to purchase another 3.5 million shares for $26.3 million ($24.75 million after estimated transaction fees).

PROXYMED READY TO CHART NEW COURSE
Following a management shake-up, ProxyMed (Atlanta) announced that it has completed an internal analysis and reorganization and is ready to unveil a new strategic direction early in the fourth quarter of this year.

PER-SE TO BUY NDC; WILL IT PAY OFF?
Per-Se Technologies (Alpharetta, GA) will dramatically expand its presence in the healthcare transaction processing and clearinghouse business with the acquisition of NDCHealth (Atlanta) for $665 million, including cash, stock and the refinancing of $270 million in debt.
