BCBS-SC CREATES ONLINE CLAIMS ADJUDICATION SYSTEM
Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) boosted its EDI rates by over 20% in the past five years, mainly by eliminating all the reasons why physicians or hospitals either had to or felt they had to send in paper claims. BCBS-SC in 2001 designed an online claims adjudication system to give providers a direct link for processing claims.

EHRVA ROADMAP PAVES WAY TO UNIVERSAL SHARING OF PATIENT INFORMATION
The Health Information Management and Systems Society (Chicago, IL) Electronic Health Record Vendors Association (EHRVA) has released the second version of its Interoperability Roadmap report that offers integrated steps to achieve a nation-wide health information network (NHIN).

ABOUT EHRVA
HIMSS EHRVA is a trade association of electronic health record (EHR) vendors that addresses national efforts to create interoperable EHRs in hospital and ambulatory care settings.

CCHIT ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CERTIFICATION PILOT
The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) is pleased overall with its first pilot testing for the three-year project to develop certification criteria and an inspection process for ambulatory and inpatient electronic health records (EHRs) and the networks over which they interoperate.
