SAGE TO BUY EMDEON PRACTICE SERVICES
Sage Software (Irvine, CA) has agreed to acquire the physician practice management software business of Emdeon Corp. (Elmwood Park, NJ) for $565 million in cash.

STATES MANDATE USE OF HEALTH IT
A study from eHealth Initiative (Washington) shows that 38 states have introduced a total of 121 bills during 2005 and 2006 “that specifically call for the use of health information technology to improve patient care.”

BUSH ORDER PROMOTES HEALTH IT
President Bush signed an executive order last week directing federal agencies “to use improved health IT systems to facilitate the rapid exchange of health information,” according to the White House.

Adam Inc. (Atlanta) announced that it has acquired the benefits management solutions firm OnlineBenefits Inc. (Uniondale, NY) for $32.5 million, including $1.5 million of assumed debt.

eDIETS SELLS STAKE TO PRIDES; RICHARSON NAMED CHAIRMAN
eDiets.com (Deerfield Beach, FL) announced the private placement of 2 million shares of common stock with Prides Capital LLC (Boston, MA).

ZIX ENCRYPTS 6.1 MM MESSAGES MONTHLY
Zix Corp. (Dallas) reported that it has encrypted more than 160 million e-mails for the year through Aug. 16, up 60% from last year.

PER-SE WINS ANESTHESIOLOGY GROUP CONTRACT
Per-Se Technologies (Alpharetta, GA) has won a contract to provide outsourced accounts receivable and other financial services to Neurosurgical Anesthesiologists (Nashville, TN).

CLAIMSNET WINS PROVIDER NETWORK ASP PACT
Claimsnet.com (Dallas) has won a contract to provide electronic claims processing technology and services on an ASP basis to Wisconsin-based Comprehensive Health Care Network, a network of 500 medical, dental and associate staffers.

TRIZETTO RAISES ’06 REVENUE FORECAST
Trizetto Group (Newport Beach, CA) has increased its full-year 2006 revenue projection to between $325 million and $340 million, representing an 11% to 16% increase over 2005.

MEDAVANT TRIMS 2Q06 NET LOSS
MedAvant (Atlanta) reported a second-quarter 2006 net loss of $1.839 million, compared to a net loss of $2.886 million for the same period last year.

eHEALTH, INFO SERVICES STOCKS RISE 2% IN 2 WEEKS
eHealth and information services stocks rose 3% in the two weeks ended Aug. 25, according to a tally of 19 issues tracked by EHI.
