The universal healthcare plan proposed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for Californias 4.8 million uninsured would require health plans to spend 85% of premiums on medical carea stipulation that could cut into the profitability of insurers.

Caremark Inc. (Nashville, TN) formally rejected a hostile takeover bid from Express Scripts (Maryland Heights, MO), stating that such a deal wouldnt be in the best interest of shareholders; instead, Caremark will continue to pursue its previously announced merger with CVS Corp. (Woonsocket, RI).
