GOLDEN RULE ADDS FEATURES TO HEALTH PLANS
Golden Rule Insurance Co. (Indianapolis), a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, said it has beefed up its health plans with new high deductible options, expanded drug coverage, expanded maternity coverage, an increased lifetime maximum, accident coverage, and the elimination of waiting periods for wellness programs.

IRS WANTS TO ALLOW ACCELERATED HSA CONTRIBUTIONS
The Internal Revenue Service is proposing that employers who contribute to HSAs be allowed to accelerate contributions for employees whose medical care expenses at any particular time during the calendar year have exceeded the employer’s contributions.

HERZLINGER OFFERS CONSUMER-DRIVEN CURE FOR HEALTH
In her new book “Who Killed Health Care?,” Harvard University professor Regina Herzlinger calls for a national universal healthcare initiative based on the principles of consumer-directed healthcare, including a mandate requiring everyone to purchase health insurance, subsidies for the poor and transparent price and quality data.
